Philip Gobeil Memorial BursaryThe late Philip Gobeil, a long-time resident of Swift Current, left his entire estate to educational charities, including a $100,000 donation to Great Plains College to establish the Philip Gobeil Memorial Bursary. Having obtained only a partial Grade 8 education, Philip always regretted not being educated. His passion was for metal work and welding and with his inventive mind and mechanical abilities, he could have done more if he had the opportunity to get an education. His last wish was to help other young people to get their education. Five $2,000 bursaries will be provided annually to students who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to students enrolled in full-time trades or power engineering programs, however all students are encouraged to apply. Applications for the 2024-25 Philip Gobeil Memorial Bursary close September 30, 2024. Please complete the application form to be considered. |
