SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Tickets are now on sale for the sixth annual Carhartts and Caviar Welding Showcase and Auction presented by S3 Enterprises. The college’s Welding certificate students, alumni, their instructor and local businesses are working hard to complete a dozen one-of-a-kind pieces for the March 1 event.
“The preparation of all the pieces for this event is a highlight of our Welding certificate program,” Swift Current Campus welding instructor Jared McKenzie said. “It gives students a chance to practice the skills they’re learning and showcase the trade by turning pieces of metal into art.”
A Swift Current Broncos fire pit and a desk made from a 1941 Chevrolet Master Deluxe are among the pieces that will be auctioned off at the event. A new surprise element is also being added to this year’s event. Buyers will have the chance to bid on a mystery item that will be unveiled after the winning bid is received.
Early bird tickets purchased by February 15 are $40 and can be purchased at the college or by contacting development@greatplainscollege.ca or (306) 773-1531. Any remaining tickets past February 15 will be $50.
“Supporters of this event not only get to experience a live auction and a fun evening of food and drink, but their dollars are directly supporting the Welding program at the college. We’re very thankful to everyone that comes out to the event year after year.” McKenzie said.
This event wouldn’t be possible without the great support of the community and sponsors, including S3 Enterprises, Acklands Grainger, Honey Bee Manufacturing, PDQ Autobody and New Edge Laser Cutting.
