What You Will Learn
Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on practicums, you'll build the core management skills you need for a leadership role in hospitality, while also gaining knowledge and experience of hotel and restaurant operations from the ground up. The program includes training in:
- Accounting, human resources, sales & marketing
- Catering and convention management
- Cooking and food preparation
- Food and beverage service
- Hotel front office and housekeeping
- Restaurant planning and management
Career Opportunities
Begin your career in the hospitality industry in any number of settings from hotels and restaurants to casinos, convention centres, golf courses and cruise lines. You may also choose to continue your education and ladder into a Bachelor of Applied Management degree at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Earning Potential
In 2022, the wage for supervisors in the accommodation, travel and tourism field in Saskatchewan was $14.00-$42.50/hour. For a hotel general manager it may range from $20.00-$56.41/hour, and a restaurant manager may range from $13.00-$43.08/hour. For support occupations in accommodations, travel, and facilities set-up services may range from $13.00-$17.89/hour. All according to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Immigration and Career Training guide. Employees may earn more or less depending on their employer, location, size of company, training, experience and hours worked.
Scholarship Eligible
Apply as a full-time student before April 30 and you will be automatically considered for a $500–$5,000 Entrance Scholarship.
