You will reflect on professional practice with a focus on advanced knowledge and skills developed in youth care courses. You will develop a personal portfolio for practicum placement in PRAC 398, Practicum 1. You will explore the professional expectations of agencies involved in your placement.
You will be introduced to the scientific study of human behaviour. You will study psychology as a discipline of neuroscience and behaviour, sensation and perception, states of consciousness, learning and memory.
You will be introduced to the foundations and structure of group work. You will learn about group dynamics and the role of effective communication in group process. You will explore the concepts of roles, norms, motivation, diversity leadership and power as they relate to being an effective group member. Finally, you will be provided with the opportunity to develop practical skills and experience in group facilitation.

These courses provide knowledge of safe and effective pesticide application and pest control as required under the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act. The course content covers areas such as Label Information, Personal Hazards, Protective Clothing and Equipment, Environmental Hazards, Safe Use and Handling, Emergency Procedures, and Federal and Provincial Legislation.

Great Plains College offers the theory portion for the Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) program legislated by SGI via distance learning. The distance learning option provides the same curriculum standard that is available for students attending the in-classroom theory training. The course is instructor-led by an experienced, approved, SGI instructor/trainer examiner and is delivered via Zoom over 8 days (47 hours). Course dates can be negotiated to suit organizations that book a private course for their employees.
Industrial Vegetation Commercial Pesticide Applicator
This course is the first step in obtaining one's license to purchase the pesticides and control weeds in industrial areas such as roadsides, power lines, right of ways, well sites, parking lots road beds and equipment yards, including the control of designated noxious weeds on all lands.
Take this course face-to-face to complete it quickly with the benefit of an experienced commercial pesticide instructor.
