Project Management

You will develop the skills and techniques required to make an effective contribution to, and have an immediate impact on, successful projects. You will develop the knowledge required to initiate, plan, execute, control and close projects. You will gain a working knowledge of MS Project software and be able to use it to schedule, budget and control projects.

Fall Rescue for Rig Work (Energy Safety Canada)

This one-day training course is intended for workers, supervisors, managers and safety personnel. Topics covered include rescue team roles, rescue equipment, ropes and knots, mechanical advantage, management of escape buggy and rescue scenarios. Upon successful completion of the prescribed practical skills and written exam, the student is issued an industry standard certificate of completion.

Fall Protection for Rig Work (Energy Safety Canada)

This two-day training course was developed in conjunction with the  Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors (CAODC). The  course is intended for workers and other personnel involved in drilling  and service rig operations. Topics include fall protection  principles, anchorages, body support devices, connecting components and  devices, life lines and ladder-climbing techniques.

Agricultural Applicator

This course meets the requirements of the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act. This Pesticide Applicators course provides basic knowledge for controlling pests such as weeds, insects and diseases.  The course content includes on-farm seed treatment, bird and rodent control, and weed control in farm dugouts and shelterbelts.

Practicum 2 (YCW)

Building in experience you gained in your first practicum, you will develop greater independence and expand the skill set needed to work as a front-line employee in social services, residential, educational, or community agency that provides youth and family services in Saskatchewan.

Family Systems

You will examine patterns of marriage and family in Canadian culture and society. You will explore the challenges facing Canadian families and you will develop strategies to support family function.

Therapeutic Activities

You will examine the role of the youth care worker in planning and implementing culturally and developmentally appropriate activities for youth and families at risk. In the role of the youth care worker, you will develop, implement and evaluate individual and group activities, Aboriginal cultural activities, and activities that involve the use of social media.

Sociology B

Building on what you learned in SOCI 184 Sociology A, you will examine the importance of a sociological understanding in human service professions. You will study social institutions, social deviance, and issues facing mainstream and marginalized people in Canada.

Indigenous Awareness

You will receive an introduction to First Nations and Métis Nations of Canada. You will examine historical and current issues that affect Aboriginal peoples. You will explore racism and will develop an understanding of how self-awareness impact helping relationships.
